The role

As a Document Controller, you’ll play a vital role in managing, tracking and controlling critical project documentation that supports major defence and engineering programmes. Working alongside project teams, customers and contractors, you'll ensure information is accurate, compliant and available when it's needed most.

Your work will help support projects that contribute directly to national security and critical infrastructure.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy and accessibility of project information throughout the project lifecycle. You'll help ensure teams can work efficiently, meet regulatory requirements and deliver successful outcomes on complex programmes.

  • Managing, tracking and controlling project documentation to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance.
  • Maintaining document management systems, processes and version control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinating the flow of information between project teams, contractors and customers.
  • Reviewing, distributing and archiving project documentation in line with business and customer requirements.
  • Supporting efficient project delivery by ensuring documentation remains accessible, up to date and fully auditable.

This role is full time, 35 and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Document Controller

  • Experience managing and controlling documentation within a structured project, engineering or business environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage information effectively.
  • High attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records and document control standards.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the timely flow of information.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications for the Document Controller

Essential:

  • Minimum Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English.
  • Minimum Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Mathematics.

Desirable:

  • Vocational training or relevant administrative experience within a business support, information management or project environment.
  • APM Project Fundamentals qualification or similar project management knowledge.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
