The role

As a Design Engineer - Pressure Test and Support Equipment, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to develop innovative solutions, influence critical engineering processes, and grow your career in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical engineering support and deliver design solutions for Refit Support Equipment that interfaces with submarine systems. You’ll work on projects that ensure the safe operation and maintenance of nuclear process plant and equipment, contributing directly to national defence.

  • Leading projects or working within a team to plan, organise, and deliver engineering tasks
  • Producing design documentation and supporting assessments as lead author where appropriate
  • Developing and delivering designs through all lifecycle phases in compliance with legislation
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on design documentation and standards
  • Representing Technical Authority during on-site visits and supporting contract staff

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Design Engineer - Pressure Test and Support Equipment

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles for pressure and pipework systems
  • Knowledge of design lifecycle and relevant regulations for nuclear process and pressure systems
  • Experience with one or more of the following: pressure systems, CAD, component simulation, fluid flow analysis, submarine system design
  • Ability to provide technical support and lead design reviews, HAZOPS, and optioneering studies

Qualifications for the Design Engineer - Pressure Test and Support Equipment

  • FdSc/HND or equivalent in a mechanical/process engineering discipline
  • HNC with substantial relevant experience will be considered
