The role

As aCommissioning Planning Engineer, you play a central part in one of Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes. This is an opportunity to influence the planning, sequencing, and delivery of major commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C — a project vital to the UK’s long‑term energy security. You will help shape schedule intelligence, guide decision‑making, and work within an environment where your expertise contributes directly to national infrastructure, safety, and clean‑energy progress.

This role offers 37 hours per week and is based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. Set working times are Monday to Friday.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Manage and maintain Level 2/4 schedules within Primavera P6, ensuring accurate, logic‑linked plans.
  • Align contractor schedules with client schedules to maintain programme consistency.
  • Provide data, analysis, and schedule insights that support project and programme leaders.
  • Coordinate and produce project‑level schedule reports and performance dashboards.
  • Engage with delivery teams to identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.

Essential experience of the Commissioning Planning Engineer

  • Proven experience in a project controls or scheduling role on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong capability using Primavera P6 to build and analyse detailed construction schedules.
  • Experience producing time‑related insights, schedule reports, or performance dashboards.
  • Experience collaborating across project control disciplines such as cost, risk, or estimating.
  • Ability to interpret complex project data and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications for the Commissioning Planning Engineer

  • Degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a similar discipline.
  • Professional qualification or chartered status (or working towards).

Security Clearance
