The role
As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to support the Royal Navy’s submarine programme. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to influence high-value contracts, drive strategic commercial decisions and contribute to national defence. You’ll be part of a growing team, working on complex bids and proposals that shape the future of our operations.
Day-to-day, you’ll be part of the Commercial team who is supporting contract management of the principal submarine contract which requires the processing of contract changes, providing advice on the contract, setting up Non-Disclosure Agreements, supporting internal and external meetings, working with Finance to provide accurate forecasting and taking time to develop yourself with training and support to meet your commercial competencies.
- Managing and coordinating bid proposals through the Babcock Gated process
- Providing strategic commercial advice and ensuring compliance with procedures
- Leading commercial aspects of equipment purchases and refurbishments
- Collaborating with Project Managers and stakeholders to align commercial strategies
- Developing tools and processes to enhance commercial operations
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office / onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist
- Proven experience in commercial management, contracts and project proposals
- Familiarity with gated project approval frameworks
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Strategic mindset with a track record of successful project contributions
Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law or Accountancy (preferred but not essential)
- Professional membership of WCC (World Commerce and Contracting) is desirable
