The role
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll gain exceptional experience and development opportunities in a dynamic environment, shaping the future of defence and engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the commercial leader for key areas of Devonport Site Delivery, managing contractual relationships with the Ministry of Defence and ensuring robust commercial governance. This is a fast-paced, varied role where you’ll act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and driving commercial excellence on projects critical to national security.
- Leading commercial and contractual relationships with the Ministry of Defence.
- Representing the business in negotiations and ensuring compliance with governance processes.
- Providing expert advice on contract interpretation, negotiation, and risk mitigation.
- Managing and developing a commercial team to deliver strategic objectives.
- Identifying and mitigating business risks while spotting opportunities for growth.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Commercial Manager
- Proven experience working with the Ministry of Defence and managing customer relationships.
- Strong knowledge of single source contracting and commercial frameworks.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, dynamic environments.
- Track record of delivering robust commercial management on large, complex contracts.
Qualifications for the Commercial Manager
- Degree in Business, Law, or equivalent professional experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
