The role
As a Business Control Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you play a vital role in shaping the performance, governance, and strategic direction of a rapidly expanding clean energy portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a high‑impact leadership position where your insight directly supports nationally significant projects, including new nuclear build, complex engineering programmes, and future‑focused clean energy initiatives.
Day-to-day, you’ll
- Guide programme and contract teams by providing clear expectations for reporting, data quality, and performance management.
- Lead resource forecasting, mobilisation, recruitment support, and utilisation tracking across project portfolios.
- Produce detailed monthly business reports covering delivery, commercial performance, quality, procurement, safety, finance, and resourcing metrics.
- Engage with Programme, Project, and Bid Managers to strengthen financial performance, revenue growth, and margin protection.
- Drive continuous improvement by introducing better systems, processes, and reporting methods, including supporting new platforms such as PMRS.
You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Bristol. Flexible working options may be available in line with business need.
Essential experience of the Business Control Manager:
- Extensive and recent operational experience working across external projects, contracts, or tender environments.
- Practical experience in business finance controls, cost control, commercial controls, estimating, risk and contingency management, and revenue or margin forecasting.
- Proven ability to influence and support multi‑disciplinary programme teams.
- Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting complex business data.
- Demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to guide, develop, and motivate team members.
Qualifications for the Business Control Manager:
- NVQ Level 5 in Project Control or an equivalent qualification.
Security Clearance
