Lead critical aviation maintenance operations with Babcock

The role

As a Base Maintenance and Installations Coordinator, you will play a central leadership role within our Aviation business, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of Base Maintenance, Component Workshop and Aircraft Installations activity. You will drive operational planning, resource management and maintenance coordination to ensure aircraft are available, maintained to the highest standards and fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Leading the planning, oversight and execution of Base Maintenance, installations and workshop activity, ensuring all work meets required procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Managing resource levels and rosters to ensure appropriate staffing, authorisations, materials and equipment are in place for both scheduled and emergent maintenance tasks.
  • Providing local management of hangars, equipment and facilities through the Hangar Support Supervisor, ensuring a professional, safe and compliant working environment.
  • Building strong working relationships with key operational stakeholders including engineering, airworthiness, logistics, procurement, projects, compliance and ground operations teams.
  • Supporting the Head of Maintenance with the management of delegated expenditure, maintenance planning decisions and the development of policies and procedures.

This role is full time working 40 hours per week and is based on site at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton.

Essential experience of the Base Maintenance and Installations Coordinator:

  • Demonstrable leadership and supervisory capability, including team engagement, mentoring and promoting a positive safety and reporting culture.
  • Extensive experience within the United Kingdom aviation sector, ideally involving rotary‑wing operations and technical support.
  • Background in Base Maintenance and modification activities with strong technical knowledge of aircraft systems.
  • Working knowledge of Civil Aviation Authority regulations, Safety Management Systems and Human Factors principles.
  • Experience liaising with engineering, logistics and planning teams in support of maintenance and airworthiness requirements.

Qualifications for the Base Maintenance and Installations Coordinator:

  • Civil Aviation Authority Part 66 B1.3 Aircraft Maintenance Licence, ideally with EC135 and BK117D2 aircraft type ratings.
  • Category C Aircraft Maintenance Licence (required).
  • Category B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (desirable but not essential).

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
