The role

As an Assistant Project Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll support the planning and project controls function within our Submarine programme, helping to ensure complex projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your planning expertise while contributing to work that supports the UK’s defence capability.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Support the Senior Planner in creating, maintaining and implementing the project planning database
  • Compile, reorganise and adjust project data into a consistent and accurate format
  • Attend project meetings on behalf of the Senior Planner when required
  • Produce high-level planning visuals and reports to support project reviews and decision-making

This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Devonport Dockyard. Hybrid working patterns are available in line with local agreements.

Essential experience of the Assistant Project Planner:

  • Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • An understanding of basic planning or scheduling principles or methodologies
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • A positive, proactive approach to learning and problem-solving

Qualifications for the Assistant Project Planner:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (desirable)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
