As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll support the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects that help ensure Devonport is ready to meet current and future defence requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your project management career while contributing to facilities and infrastructure that support national security.
Working within our Naval Nuclear business, you’ll manage smaller-scale projects and support Project Managers in delivering larger, complex programmes across the Devonport site. You’ll gain exposure to all phases of the project lifecycle, building your expertise in planning, finance, risk management, project controls and health and safety while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Deliver infrastructure and construction projects for maintenance, improvements and new facilities across the Devonport site.
- Support Project Managers in the successful delivery of larger, higher-value projects.
- Manage project planning, programming, budgeting and financial controls.
- Monitor project risks, progress, performance and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained across all project activities.
This is a full-time office-based role at Devonport Royal Dockyard, working 37 hours per week, working 07:30 – 15:30 Monday till Thursday and 07:30 – 12:30 on Friday. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Assistant Project Manager
- Experience in project management and the delivery of infrastructure, construction or related projects.
- Understanding of project planning, monitoring and control methodologies.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and their practical application.
- Awareness of Association for Project Management principles and project management best practice.
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager
Essential
- HNC or HND in Architecture, Building Management, Construction, or a related discipline.
- Association for Project Management qualification.
Desirable
- Further project management certifications or professional memberships.
- Experience within defence, infrastructure, engineering or highly regulated environments.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
