The role

As an Assistant Buyer /Operational Procurement Associate, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of operational procurement activity within a unique and fast-paced vehicle engineering environment. You'll be at the heart of the supply chain, ensuring critical materials, products and services are available when needed to support operational delivery. Day-to-day, you’ll gain exposure to end-to-end procurement processes, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers, and develop valuable skills that can open doors across automotive, defence, engineering and manufacturing industries. You will be:

  • Supporting Buyers to deliver efficient procurement and purchasing activities across the business.
  • Processing material and purchasing demands, converting requirements into purchase orders for suppliers.
  • Monitoring overdue orders and proactively liaising with suppliers to maintain delivery performance.
  • Resolving invoice queries and supplier delivery issues to ensure smooth operational performance.
  • Maintaining accurate procurement and supplier data within purchasing and enterprise resource planning systems

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home. Standard office hours apply Monday to Thursday with flexible start times between 7am and 9am, with an early finish on Fridays.

Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer / Operational Procurement Associate

  • Experience working in a customer-focused or service-driven environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience using procurement, purchasing or enterprise resource planning systems would be advantageous.
