The role

As an Assistant Building Custodian, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient operation of essential facilities used in defence and engineering environments. This is a hands-on, varied role where your work ensures buildings, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Open and close buildings and ensuring all areas are secure and operational
  • Report and record building faults, maintenance needs, and infrastructure issues
  • Carry out regular fire safety checks, including alarms and extinguishers
  • Control keys and manage access to internal and external training areas
  • Support equipment checks, stock control, and maintaining accurate records and databases

The role is based onsite at Bovington, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm, totalling 40 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Assistant Building Custodian:

  • Demonstrating experience in stores, facilities support, or similar operational environments
  • Using Microsoft Office or similar systems to maintain records and databases
  • Deliver strong customer service and communication

Qualifications for the Assistant Building Custodian:

  • Full UK driving licence, Category B minimum

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
