The role

As an Air Traffic Control Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and safety of airfield operations. You’ll contribute directly to the delivery of critical air traffic services, supporting flying operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Deliver air traffic control services in line with regulatory and operational requirements
  • Maintain documentation, competency and compliance with unit standards and procedures
  • Support safety management systems, including risk assessments, hazard logs and safety improvements
  • Coach and mentor colleagues and trainees where qualified to do so
  • Perform Duty Air Traffic Control Officer responsibilities and supporting wider contract delivery.

This role is 40 hours per week, based on site at Wittering, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Shift patterns apply and will include weekends to meet operational requirements.

Essential experience of the Air Traffic Control Officer:

  • Act as the duty ATCO and ensure the integrity of the airfield is always maintained, that the movement area, equipment and surrounding areas are fully servicable and support safe operations.
  • Demonstrating experience in mentoring or training within an air traffic or aviation environment is advantageous
  • Managing and processing meteorological information accurately within required timeframes
  • Interpret flight planning messages and preperation of notices and operational records
  • Working within regulated aviation frameworks and safety-critical environments
  • Collaborating effectively with operational teams and stakeholders

Qualifications for the Air Traffic Control Officer:

  • Civil Aviation Authority Air Traffic Controller Licence (Aerodome (ADI) rating)
  • Current European Class 3 Medical
  • IT literate (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • On the Job Training Instructor qualification
  • Experience within a military aviation environment
  • Air Traffic Control Assistant experience
  • Meteorological Observer qualification

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Terrorist Check (CTC) and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) security clearance for this role.
