As Access Officer, you’ll be the first point of contact for employees, visitors and contractors entering Devonport Royal Dockyard. You'll play a vital role in maintaining secure access to a nationally important site while delivering an outstanding customer experience. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a unique defence environment, gaining experience in security, access management and customer service while supporting the safe and efficient operation of one of the UK's largest naval bases.
Day-to-day, you’ll will be required to:
- Provide a professional, welcoming and customer-focused gateway service for Devonport Dockyard.
- Process access applications, passes, permits and renewals in line with Ministry of Defence contractual requirements.
- Manage site access requests for personnel, vehicles, contractors and VIP visitors.
- Review administrative processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Support team performance by promoting a positive culture and help achieve contractual service targets.
This role is full-time, 35 hours per week, based onsite and is customer-facing, with the following shift pattern:
- 10.00 – 18.00: Monday to Thursday and 13.00 – 18.00: Friday
Essential experience of the Access Officer:
- Experience delivering excellent customer service in a busy, customer-facing environment.
- Good working knowledge of information technology systems and standard office applications.
- Experience handling sensitive information accurately and confidentially.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working within an administrative, security, reception or access control environment would be advantageous.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
