The role
As a Technical Training Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll design and deliver engaging technical training programmes for both internal teams and external customers, helping to shape the next generation of defence professionals. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference - enhancing national security while advancing your own career in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll develop and deliver high-quality training courses for new equipment and services. Additionally, you will:
- Conduct training needs analysis to identify practical, cost-effective solutions
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to gather technical insights
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Training Manager to assess training implications
- Manage key and crypto material accounts in line with security protocols
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at HMS Collingwood.
Essential experience of the Technical Training Instructor
- Communicating effectively across teams and stakeholders
- Working proactively and flexibly within a small, focused team
- Understanding of data communications or engineering - desirable
- Experience working alongside UK military customers - desirable
- Royal Navy background - desirable
Qualifications for the Technical Training Instructor
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
