The Role

As a Senior Key Account Manager within the Space Business Unit, this role will contribute to the delivery of mission outcomes for an operational HQ.

As a Senior Key Account Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a highly visible and influential Senior Key Account Manager role operating within a new and exciting business unit (Space Business Unit) working closely with senior stakeholders within Babcock and the Ministry of Defence.

Day-to-day, you’ll manage and drive key account stakeholder engagement whilst interfacing with all appropriate internal Babcock and Team Aurora stakeholders to ensure current and future mission outcomes are met.

Working alongside our internal stakeholders, and importantly the Ministry of Defence (MoD); Defence Digital, MSHQ, NAD, Space Command and where appropriate the Front-Line Commands.

  • Customer Insight & Communication: Use customer engagement to gauge perceptions, identify capability or delivery issues, and anticipate future challenges. Share insights with Babcock/Team Aurora to guide planning and corrective actions. Lead messaging and communication strategies with the customer and facilitate internal coordination for timely issue resolution.
  • Capability Development Alignment: Understand MoD’s strategic plans, drivers, and challenges. Influence Skynet and SKIES strategy by leveraging Babcock, Team Aurora, and supply chain expertise. Ensure alignment with customer strategy and procurement through clear communication with the Space Business Unit.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Senior Key Account Manager

  • Strong background working in and knowledge of Skynet, Satellite communications (SATCOM) and Defence Digital.
  • Proven experience in working with the UK MoD on either MILSATCOM (preferred) or COMSATCOM, with an in depth understanding of key drivers and constraints that will steer future strategy with an ability to link this to technical/operational requirements.
  • Ability to build relationships and inspire confidence at multiple levels with both the MoD stakeholders and Babcock and its partner organisations.
  • Experience in operating in complex environments with conflicting demands with diverse stakeholders to build clear strategy and forward path.
  • Proven ability to influence and engender trust across diverse (internal/external) stakeholder community in order to help attain consensus in environments where frequently there is no clear single way forwards and diverging stakeholder views.
