The role
As a Cost Controller you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Cost Controller is responsible for assisting the control of the project’s financial performance, ensuring that costs are monitored, forecast accurately, and managed within approved budgets. They are also the key responsible contact for ensuring financial performance is accurately reported to the Programmes management team and customer. The Cost controller will provide robust financial control by developing methodologies and systems to track and manage project-related expenses.
The T31 CIP Programme is defined by its progressive adoption of scope up to the contract cap. Working on this programme where the scope is continually refined and expanded, this role requires a proactive approach to employing financial controls to the evolving scope, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the effective allocation of resources throughout the programme lifecycle. Day to day you'll:
- Ensure that project expenditures align with allocated budgets and programme commitments while identifying potential cost overruns at an early stage.Work with the project team to develop and maintain budget forecasts and cost reports.
- Monitor actual expenditure against budgeted figures and flag variances for immediate action.Work with the PCM and Financial manager to implement and cost control systems and procedures ensuring accuracy in cost recording. This shall include assisting in establishing the wider project baseline and ensuring this is checked against the wider T31 programme environment.
- Prepare regular financial performance reports for the project manager and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain the programme Estimate at Completion (EAC) including conducting trend identification and risk assessment against the planned programme forecast.
- Responsible for contributing to regular reporting throughout the CIP to provide relevant, accurate and reliable information on the status and forecast of the project.
Please note that this position is based onsite in Rosyth. There is an opportunity to combine work week to 4 days.
Essential experience of Cost Controller
- Some background in cost controlling
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Readiness to take up training
