The role

As a Configuration Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of supporting the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary surface ships. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national defence by ensuring the integrity and operational readiness of critical maritime assets. Your work will directly support the Ministry of Defence and help maintain the UK's naval capabilities.

This full-time, permanent role is based at our Portsmouth Lakeside site. Hybrid working patterns are available, with three days per week onsite.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Extracting and updating configuration data from drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Supporting configuration audits through ship visits.
  • Preparing process documentation and stakeholder reports.
  • Attending internal meetings to resolve configuration issues.
  • Following project procedures and quality plans, identifying improvements.

Essential experience of the Configuration Engineer:

  • Engineering experience in maritime environments.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical data clearly.
  • Skilled in reading and analysing technical drawings.
  • Strong IT proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of working onboard naval vessels.

Qualifications for the Configuration Engineer:

  • ONC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
