The role
As a Carbon Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nuclear programme with opportunity to influence LCA landscape at Cavendish at business levels.

Day-to-day, you’ll work with the team to embed and refine the carbon management process that is to be developed onto the PP&E projects. This will involve engagement with the Engineering teams to understand the scope and propose carbon reduction methods, amongst also working with design and assurance teams to align schedules and delivery information.

  • Helping to develop sustainability and LCA strategies and action across current projects – creating an exemplar process for future cavendish projects.
  • Work with supply chain to gather EPDs / other environmental case data needed for design and assurance teams LCA.
  • Assess initial excel baselines on glovebox carbon assessment and suggest appropriate methods to improve process (use of tool) and work with supply chain to improve data quality
  • Work with design and assurance teams to align schedules and delivery of information
  • Support in communicating carbon opportunities register to client
  • Working with wider Programme partnership counterparts on carbon related engagement and upskilling
  • Opportunity to support bids with consideration to carbon management solutions

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangement, and can be based at either our Warrington or Bristol hubs.

Essential experience of the Carbon Specialist

  • Experience in delivering carbon foot printing / LCA across a range of complex project types.
  • Background in sustainability and carbon reduction Project management, including budget management, reporting writing and risk assessment is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of key methodologies and data sources associated with LCA and carbon management, (e.g. PAS2080: Carbon Management in infrastructure,
  • Greenhouse Gas Protocol, among others).
  • Use of LCA tools e.g. One click LCA / Sima Pro, etc
  • Demonstrable experience engaging with various stakeholders, including clients, particularly asset owners

Qualifications for the Carbon Specialist

  • Holds a degree in engineering or demonstrable experience relating to mechanical engineering is essential
  • BSc In Science / engineering / environmental topic / procurement subject is advantageous
  • LCA / carbon management qualifications, such as training in ISO14040 or LCACP
  • Membership to a relevant institution including IEMA is desirable
