The role

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join Babcock’s Aviation Unit during a pivotal period of growth, where you’ll play a key role in driving success through strategic bid development, proactive client engagement, and forward-thinking planning.

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate, develop and execute strategies with the wider development and leadership teams to win new contracts, secure existing contract into the future and expand existing strategic relationships.

  • Management of the sales and opportunity pipeline through accurate and realistic understanding of the likelihood of opportunities coming to market. Ensuring that data is accurately managed within Babcock’s pipeline of opportunities and contribute to the forecasting of sales targets.
  • Ensure the CRM system reflects realistic, up-to-date sales data and opportunity progression.
  • Lead the development and execution of capture strategies that align with Babcock’s growth objectives.
  • Ensuring development of potential and existing opportunities and leading them through the Babcock governance process
  • Working with company subject matter experts to develop outline solutions that address the customer requirements and that can be utilised for the basis of customer engagement.

Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Business Development Manager:

  • Business Development Experience
  • Worked in either the defence/military/MOD/RAF space or working within Aviation
  • Have worked on new and existing business deals and customers
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing abilities
