The role
As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll be at the heart of our procurement operations, supporting the delivery of critical defence and engineering projects. Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Executing the requisition to order process within agreed service levels, up to a value of £2m
- Supporting Buyers to protect Babcock’s commercial position through agreed terms and conditions
- Managing order books and expediting processes to ensure timely delivery across the supply chain
- Assisting with supplier onboarding and qualification to ensure compliance and readiness
- Collaborating with finance teams to ensure on-time payment to suppliers.
This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer:
- Basic knowledge of operational procurement techniques
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS, SAP, or Oracle.
Qualifications for the Assistant Buyer:
- Qualified to NQ level or equivalent through work experience
- Willingness to study towards MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
