The Role

As an Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Mission Systems business. You’ll partner with cost centre owners, track budgets, forecast spend and deliver accurate month-end results. This is an opportunity to make a real impact - your insights will help shape decisions that support national security and critical infrastructure. You’ll gain exposure to complex financial processes and develop your career in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Managing intercompany recharge codes and processes, ensuring timely invoicing and coding.
  • Supporting quarterly rates calculations and monitoring recovery positions.
  • Delivering month-end results, posting accruals and prepayments, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports.
  • Assisting with annual budgets, cost analysis, and year-end audit processes.
  • Building strong relationships across Mission Systems and the wider finance community.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Accountant

  • Strong communication skills to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in presenting financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Excellent time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and a critical thinking approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications for the Accountant

  • Ideally working towards or holding a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW) or equivalent.
  • Candidates with AAT Level 2/3/4 or those starting chartered qualifications will be considered.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
